The low-cost models of the Nokia smartphones Lumia are performing very well on the market as a press release from the Finnish company shows. For a period of only 3 months Nokia sold more than 2 million units of it so called low-cost Lumias. Nokia Lumia smartphones are the first cell phones to operate under the newest mobile operating system created by Microsoft – Windows Phone.
Despite the good showing from the Lumia smartphones Nokia is not happy with the results because the company predicted that the operating margin will break even for that quarter, but at the end it was -3%. The main reason cited by Nokia for these results was “competitive industry dynamics” which took their toll on Nokia smartphone sales on markets in the Middle East, China, Africa and India. However, Nokia plans to resolve this issue by expediting the sales of its new smartphone series Lumia in the future.
Although Nokia is still one of the leading cell phone manufacturers in the world the company sold only 12 million units of Symbian and Windows Phone smartphones for the last quarter, while in the same time Nokia sold more than 71 million units of the company’s conventional cell phone models.
