Apple is sued once again, this time along with Samsung. The Graphics Properties Holdings, formerly known as Silicon Graphics also pleads against HTC, LG, Sony and RIM. The vendors of the smartphone devices are said to have infridged on a single graphics-related patent in their devices and related items.
The GPH is filing six cases for all the companies mentioned above. The damages that are sought are about a patent at issue in the lawsuits which relates to floating point calculations to render graphics . The devices include Apple’s iPhone, HTC’s EVO 4G, LG’s Thrill, Samsung’s Galaxy S and Galaxy S II, Sony’s Xperia Play and RIM’s Torch.
Silicon Graphics is bankrupt since 2009 and most of its assets are sold already. GPH is sponsored by private and institutional funds in order to continue the research for computer processing, display segments and graphics.
