China is set to overtake USA in yet another segment of the technology market. While for now most smartphones in the world are sold on the US market until the end of the year that may change. According to a prognosis done by IDC research company China is going to surpass USA in the amount of smartphone units sold and grab the first position as the country that sells most smartphones.
The researchers from IDC claim that by the end of 2012 around 20.7% of all the new smartphones in the world are going to sold in China, while the smartphones sold in USA are going to be around 20.6%. Besides that in IDC predicts that in the not that distant future only 15% all the smartphone sold in world are going to be sold in the USA. In the same time by the year 2016 the amount of smartphone units sold is going to reach 9.3%.
The reason for countries like China and India to be catching up with USA on the market for technology comes from the fact that more and more companies such as Lenovo, Huawei and others are offering cheap smartphone products that run on Android on the markets in those countries. Also it’s expected that in the future the newest mobile operating system Windows Phone is also going to be offered on cheaper smartphone models and target potential customers in India and China.
