A report published by Netherland’s research company Nwezoo which investigated the habits of gamers in USA concluded that the iOS users are paying up to five times more for video games than those of Android. The data in the report is based on a information about the top 200 downloaded video games for smartphones, as well as the results taken from a pool conducted among 17 000 people.
The report by Nwezoo shows that in comparison to Google Play and Android Store, iTunes generates up to 84 per cent more video games downloads. However, it is worth pointing out that only 10 per cent of all video games downloaded are downloaded for the first time. The majority of downloads are actually game add-ons which are purchased by the users once after they are released by the developer. In Germany and France those numbers are 73 per cent and 87 per cent respectively
Besides researching how much money gamers are paying for video games on their smartphones in USA, Newzoo compared the habits of gamers in USA, Germany and France. It turns out that only 19% of all the people in USA playing video games on their cell phones are doing it on ordinary mobile phones, while the rest of them are either using smartphones or tablets. In France, for example, there are a lot more people playing video games on an ordinary cell phones, 34 per cent.
