The Amazon tablet performance on the market is exceeding every expectations. According to an analyst prediction the Kindle Fire sales are very much “on fire”. The tablet has sold somewhere between 5 and 6 million units. What is so staggering about this number is the fact that Kindle Fire debuted only few weeks ago, on November 16. However, the strong showing in sales of this device during the Holiday season contributed to the impressive results.
While the sales of the Amazon device can in no way compare to those of the iPad in the same period. Recently, Apple announced that its tablet has sold more than 15.6 million units. However, it is worth pointing out that for the same period of time when iPad first premiered, the Apple tablet sold only around 3 million units. Still, until Amazon releases their quarterly report there are no guarantees that the numbers are exactly the same as those announced.
Part of the success of the Amazon device might be contributed to the low cost of the product compared to the iPad. The cheapest iPad is still double the price of what the most expensive Kindle Fire costs – $300.
