In case you want to make music on your iPad or iPhone device, you will have more than one option. GarageBand is not unique anymore. Thanks to Macworld, there are more apps for making music on iOS.
The launching of iOS 5.1 saw an updated GarageBand, with the new editing function, thus correcting the drawbacks of the previous version. There are new functions, like track merging and SmartStrings.
The price of the newest app is £2.99, not too much for such a full music-making and editing app. The minor drawback is the lack of support for an external keyboard or microphone apart from the iPad version.
Another music app is ReBirth. Easy to use and with quality sounds and effects, ReBirth is integrated with Facebook. However, the result is merely a low-quality MP3, which can be really frustrating.
Figure is another easy to use applet, but lacks export function. SongMaker is good for singing over a backing track. Alchemy Synth Mobile is great for synthesiser fans and its basic version is free.
To put more flavour into all of this, you can make music through recording sounds from the daily noises with MadPad or boost your poetry skills with How to Rap for iPad.
