Apple is planning to integrate in-cell technology in the next iPhone. The in-cell touch screen with the combination of a metal back and thinner battery could make the new iPhone 7.9mm thick – 1.4 mm thinner. The KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo confirmed thisiformation.
Ming-Chi Kuo researched the characteristics of this technology and realised that the touch sensors would be embedded into the glass display. That way the need for separate touch sensor layer and the adhesive one will be removed. The result is that the production of the displays will be quicker and cheaper. Some specialists believe that the in-cell technology will be used to make room for a more powerful battery. The next iPad is expected in the third quarter of 2012.
