A new hope for the TV manufacturers in the USA. Despite the popular belief that the television sets will lose the niche to the interactive devices, the customers in America still prefer the TV sets as their main source of entertainment and multimedia.
The average US resident is watching roughly 5 hours of video images with 98% “consumed” via TV set. Although the overall percentage is lower than the recent years, it is still too early to consider the TV set obsolete.
The research results showed that in 2011 the TV sets are used for watching TV shows and live broadcasting. The overall share of gaming via TV set is modest. Every American is watching TV 33 hours in a week, which makes 4.7 hours daily. Compared to the 2010 results, this an insignificant 0.5% decrease. However, the number of people watching videos on their smartphones is rising. They are now 33.5 million people – 35.7% more.
