Perhaps one of the most frequently used words for the description of Vienna is “classic”. The capital of Austria has a long tradition of arts and culture being the crown jewel of the Habsburg monarchy and a symbol of the greatest achievements of the German-speaking world.
We can call Austria and its capital a place of the glorious past. The city itself is a unique mixture of styles in architecture – Gothic cathedrals, Baroque theatres and neoclassical buildings rise alongside the modern international centres in one of the most remarkable examples of urban planning.
Vienna’s multitude of cultural places makes the city a heaven for cultural tourism. The Burgtheater is considered one of the best theatres in Europe. Same applies to the the Viennese Staatsoper., one of the many operas in the city. Many notable musicians composed their masterpieces in Vienna, including Mozart, Beethoven and Johann Strauss. A great part of world’s treasures are kept in the museums as a source of prestige for the once mighty Habsburgs with the latter’s palaces serving now as some of the major tourist destinations.
Along with the splendour of the buildings and fine arts, Vienna possesses a lot of leisure activities. The parks and the green areas are beautiful and well planned, here is also the famous Spanish riding school. Viennese coffee culture have an extremely long and distinguished history and the cafeterias are a symbol of the aristocratic lifestyle. The Austrian cuisine is also an example of refined tastes – well known is the Viennese Schnitzel and some of the world’s finest cakes and desserts. Vienna is also one of the few remaining world capital cities with its own vineyards.
Since the tourist attractions in Vienna are too many, before you start making cheap calls to Austria in order to book hotels, you will have to select carefully the places you want to visit.
