Q: Do I need to open an account or register?

A: There is no account to open or registration needed. All you have to do is dial the access number. Your service provider will bill you the advertised rate.

Q: Do I pay any extra charges for using your landline access numbers?

A: You will not be changed anything extra by cheapestinternationalcalls.com or our suppliers. The advertised rates on this site include VAT at 17.5%. Rates shown are what you would pay if you were a BT Residential customer on 01.08.10. Click here to see the charges on BT’s website. All service providers charge a connection fee for call 08 and 09 access numbers. These range from 2p to 15p depending on the service provider.

A: You will be charged from the moment you are connected to the access number until the time you hang up. You can check the cost of calling the access numbers on this site with your service provider.

Q: I've been charged the full international cost for the call; how did this happen?

A: Does the full international destination number show on your telephone bill? If it does show; this means that, when making your call, you haven't dialed the access number before dialing your international destination. Please remember to always use the access number to maximise your savings on international calls. Alternately, you may have pressed the call or send button after the international number. Remember, after dialing the international number press nothing and your call will automatically be connected.

Q: Can I use the 08 and 09 access numbers from my mobile?

A: Yes, you can. You should be aware that the rate for the call to our access numbers may be higher from your mobile than from a landline. How much you will be charged depends on your mobile operator and which tariff plan you have.

Q: How much will I be charged if my calls are billed by Virgin Media, TalkTalk or Sky?

A: You can use our access numbers with every service provider but the costs do vary. The below rates are correct as of December 2011. The 'Connection Change' is a one off change on all calls.

Q: The access number for my destination is 09; are these expensive?

A: 09 numbers are classified as premium rate numbers; however prices for premium rate numbers vary enormously depending on which number you are ringing. All the premium rate numbers on this website are fixed rate which you can verify with your service provider.

Q: Why does it sometimes take longer for my call to connect?

A: When calling some of the more remote countries you may encounter a slight delay, this is normally due to the local telecommunications infrastructure in the country you are calling.

Q: Can I make another call without redialling the access number?

A: Yes, with some of the access numbers on this website you can make what is known as a 'follow-on call'. To make a follow on call, do not hang up. Simply press # # or ** and you can dial another number.

Q: How am I billed for the international calls I make?

A: BT will charge you our advertised pence per minute rate which is billed by the second, charges by other providers including mobile operators may vary. We always recommend that you check with your provider before using the service. The cost of the international call is included in the advertised rate.

SMS Top Up Service

Q: What is SMS Top Up Service?

A: These services allow you to make very cheap international calls from your mobile with no need to set up an account. The service operates on a pre-pay basis and calls are made using the available credit.

Q: How do I top up?

A: Simply text the Key Word to the Short Code for a for the advertised amount for call credit.

Q: How do I make a call with the SMS Top Up Service?

A: Simply dial the access number included in the confirmation text message, listen to the message, enter the full international number - do not press send / call again. That's it your connected.

Q: What if I have sent a text requesting a top up, but have not received a confirmation message back?

A: Generally a confirmation message is sent instantaneously, however very occasionally for example at peak times the mobile networks maybe congested which means that the confirmation message maybe delayed. Do not resend the message as you will be charged twice. If you do not receive a message after a significant amount of time, there probably wasn’t enough credit on your phone.
